Lauren's story

In defining moments, communication determines whether people align, decisions move forward, and momentum builds.

Lauren Cotter Brobson founded Cotterson Advisors based on a clear conviction: leadership is exercised through communication. In a world that is fast, complex, and unrelenting, Lauren guides leaders to approach communication as a strategic capability—one that influences outcomes and strengthens how they are seen, heard, and trusted.

Over the course of three decades, Lauren has worked at the intersection of leadership, communication, and influence—including senior roles in government, executive communications leadership within a Fortune 500 company, and advisory work with organizations and executives across corporate, nonprofit, healthcare, trade, and political environments.

Early in her career, Lauren served as chief speechwriter to then–Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, helping shape communication around complex policy priorities in highly visible and often contested environments.

In that work—and in the years that followed—she saw a consistent pattern:

The idea can be sound.
The data can add up.
The intentions can be right.

And progress can still stall—not because the strategy is flawed, but because the communication does not align people to move forward.

Lauren’s work focuses on moments where communication is central to an outcome. She partners with leaders navigating enterprise transformation, public scrutiny, regulatory complexity, and defining, make-or-break moments.

She specializes in guiding leaders who must:

  • Translate complex strategy into a clear, aligned narrative

  • Navigate scrutiny, resistance, and competing priorities

  • Establish credibility quickly in high-visibility roles

  • Strengthen how they are seen, heard, and trusted over time

Lauren is a proud alumna of The George Washignton University, where she majored in Political Communications.

Today, she works globally and resides in a rural community outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with her husband, Kevin. They are the parents of three grown children, two goldendoodles, and a semi-retired outside cat. When not advising clients or spending time with family, she can be found in the barn with her warmblood mare, Matti, and mini-horse companion, Delilah.
